That said, you can get an online prescription without visiting the doctor’s office by scheduling a virtual doctor visit. Online doctors can write online prescriptions and prescription refills and will electronically send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice, following your appointment.
How can I get an online prescription?
While you cannot simply order a prescription online, you can meet with a doctor to get medication prescribed online. To receive prescription medication, you must first consult with a medical doctor. This can be done online via the phone or video chat. If the doctor finds you may benefit from an online prescription, they will electronically send one to the pharmacy of your choice.
How can I get a prescription fast?
You can get a prescription fast by skipping the doctor’s office and meeting with a doctor online. PlushCare offers same-day appointments with board certified doctors from the top 50 U.S. medical schools. The average consultation lasts just 15 minutes. We see patients with or without insurance and our doctors can write online prescriptions and prescription refills for all non controlled substances. You can speak with an online doctor using a telemedicine platform such as PlushCare through your phone or computer. After your medical consultation, you may be eligible to have your prescription refill sent to a pharmacy near you in the location where you are staying.
Can I refill my prescription online?
Yes, you can legally refill a prescription online after a virtual medical consultation with an online doctor. At PlushCare, our licensed doctors can typically prescribe online prescription refills for all non-controlled substances for up to 90 days. Depending on the condition, your physician may require that you obtain lab work as well. Our doctors can fill many routine non-controlled prescriptions such as antibiotics, birth control, hypertension medications, and antidepressants. However, because we are a telemedicine company we cannot prescribe or refill controlled substances.Please note that prescriptions are written at the doctor’s discretion based on their medical expertise and judgment. We can’t guarantee that refills will be given, even if your PlushCare doctor has prescribed a specific medication for you in the past. Labs may be required for certain medications.
How can I refill my prescription if I have run out of refills?
If the pharmacy has told you that you have run out of refills on your prescription, but you still need your medication, it is time to see a doctor. The doctor will make sure you should still be taking the medication and can write you a new prescription if you qualify and if needed. This can all be done online through a virtual medical consultation at PlushCare.
How can I refill my prescription without seeing a doctor?
If you need a refill prescription, you may be able to speak with an online doctor to request a prescription refill. This could help you save time without having to travel to see a doctor in person. To speak with an online doctor at PlushCare about requesting a prescription refill, you would first make an online appointment. During your virtual consultation, the doctor will review your symptoms and medical history to determine if you need a refill prescription. If the doctor writes you a prescription, the prescription refill would then be sent to a pharmacy for you to pick up.
What if my prescription is out of stock at the pharmacy?
If your pharmacy states they are out of stock of the medication you have been prescribed, we recommend calling other local pharmacies in your area to see if they have the medication!
If you are successful in finding a pharmacy with the medication in stock, you can have it transferred to the new pharmacy! To initiate a pharmacy transfer, you will need the initial pharmacy’s address, phone number, and name of the medication. Ask the new pharmacy to transfer the prescription(s), and they will process the transfer on your behalf!

What medications can PlushCare prescribe?

What is PlushCare's prescription refill policy?
Our doctors are able to refill up to a 90-day prescription for any previously prescribed medications, that are not classified as a controlled substance. They use their medical judgment to determine whether to prescribe and the duration. They will have the prescription sent to the pharmacy of your choice.

What if I need to transfer my prescription to a different pharmacy?
The fastest way to transfer your prescription to a different pharmacy is by reaching out directly to the pharmacy where you would like to get your prescription and requesting a transfer.
Many major pharmacy chains have online support for transferring across their locations. Have your insurance info (if applicable), the current pharmacy name, address, and phone number on hand, and they’ll handle the rest.

What if the pharmacy said they didn't receive my prescription?
Your prescriptions are sent to your pharmacy on file electronically once your appointment has been completed. Please note that it can take up to 2 hours for your prescription to be ready. Time frames for receiving the prescription and having it ready for pick up vary depending on your pharmacy.
If your pharmacy states that they didn’t receive your prescription order, show the pharmacist the prescription card tile in the app. The additional information on the receipt helps the pharmacist identify the order. You can access the receipt in two ways:
