About Xigduo XR (dapagliflozin/metformin)
Xigduo XR is an oral diabetes medication. Xigduo extended-release tablets contain a combination of dapagliflozin and metformin, which help control blood sugar levels by getting rid of excess glucose and lowering glucose production in the liver.
Xigduo XR is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It also helps lower the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and chronic kidney disease. Xigduo XR is available only by prescription. It is available in a generic formulation under different brand names, including dapagliflozin/metformin.
Xigduo XR may be prescribed as an extended-release tablet. It’s always important to follow the specific instructions on your prescription, as they can vary based on the formulation and dosage prescribed.
If you're prescribed Xigduo XR, complete the entire course of the oral diabetes medication unless your doctor specifically tells you to stop. If you don’t complete your prescription, the diabetes medication may not fully treat your type 2 diabetes mellitus.
