Get a Guanfacine Prescription Online

Are you looking for a non-stimulant ADHD treatment? Maybe you’re looking to treat high blood pressure. Either way, guanfacine might help. Let’s learn more about this medication and how you can get a guanfacine prescription online.

Can You Buy a Guanfacine Prescription Online?

Legally, you must speak to a doctor before getting any prescription medication. So you can’t just buy guanfacine from a website and have it shipped to your door. However, you can have a video or phone appointment with a doctor who can electronically send a prescription for guanfacine to your local pharmacy.

What Is Guanfacine?

Guanfacine is a medication that is available in two forms that treat two very different conditions:

  • Hypertention (high blood pressure)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Under brand name Tenex, guanfacine treats high blood pressure.

On the other hand, Intuniv is a long-acting version of guanfacine that is used for ADHD treatment

Either way, guanfacine is in a class of medications called centrally acting alpha2A-adrenergic receptor agonists.

How Does Guanfacine Work?

Guanfacine lowers blood pressure by decreasing heart rate and relaxing the blood vessels to allow blood to flow more easily through the body.

Guanfacine extended-release tablets may treat ADHD by affecting the part of the brain that controls impulsivity and attention.

Guanfacine Dosage and Treatment

Always follow your doctor’s dosage instructions.

Generally, the adult dose of guanfacine for treating high blood pressure is 1 mg orally once a day at bedtime. After three to four weeks, the dose can be increased to 2 mg. Adverse reactions increase significantly with doses above 3 mg per day.

The usual pediatric dose of extended-release guanfacine to treat ADHD is 1 mg, once per day, taken at the same time every day. The dosage may increase by up to 1 mg per week.

The maximum dosage will vary depending on the child’s size but shouldn’t exceed 7 mg per day.
