  • Can I get a prescription without seeing a doctor?

    Legally, you need to have a consultation with a doctor before you can receive prescription medication. That said, you can get a prescription without going into the doctors office by seeing a doctor online. Online doctors can write prescriptions and prescription refills and will electronically send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice, following your online appointment.

  • Can I order a prescription online?

    While you cannot simply order a prescription online, you can meet with an online doctor to get medication prescribed online. In order to receive prescription medication you must first consult with a medical doctor. This can be done online via phone or video chat. If the doctor finds you may benefit from a prescription they will electronically send one to the pharmacy of your choice. They can also provide you with a doctor’s note, if necessary.

  • Can online doctors prescribe antibiotics?

    Yes, an online doctor can prescribe antibiotics following a virtual consultation. Antibiotics are a prescription medication and therefore you must speak to a doctor before you can receive them. That said, you can meet with an online doctor and get prescribed antibiotics online. In that way you avoid the doctor’s office and can receive treatment from your home, or on the go!

  • How can I get a prescription fast?

    You can get a prescription fast by skipping the doctor’s office and meeting with a doctor online. PlushCare offers same-day appointments with board certified doctors from the top 50 U.S. medical schools. The average consultation lasts just 15 minutes. We see patients with or without insurance and our doctors can write new prescriptions and prescription refills for all noncontrolled substances.

  • Do online doctors work?

    Online doctors work great for treating non-emergency conditions such as minor bacterial infections, the cold and flu, and many mental health conditions. They are also useful for managing chronic conditions and getting prescriptions filled and refilled, without having to go to the doctor.

  • What is the best online doctor?

  • Do I need insurance to see an online doctor?

    Whether or not you need health insurance to see an online doctor will depend on the telehealth platform. At PlushCare we accept patients with or without health insurance. If you do not have health insurance you can still book an appointment with a PlushCare doctor and receive treatment.

  • What if I need a lab test?

    If you need to have lab work done before receiving a diagnosis and treatment plan, an online doctor can recommend the appropriate lab tests and write you a lab order. PlushCare partners with top labs throughout the country and our doctors will refer you to the closest lab to you after providing you with your lab order. When your results come back from the lab the doctor will reach out for a follow up appointment. Common lab orders our online doctors write are for STD testing and thyroid testing, among others.

  • How much does an online doctor cost?

    The cost of an online doctor will vary depending on the telehealth platform and your insurance status. We accept patients with or without insurance. Most patients with in-network insurance pay just $30 to speak with one of our physicians.
