Can You Get a Cipro Prescription Online?

There are a variety of antibiotic medications on the market, and each one has its own unique formulation to target a unique list of infections. Cipro is one of many antibiotics that your doctor might prescribe. What is Cipro, how can you benefit from its use, and can you get a Cipro prescription online? Read on to learn more.

What is Cipro?

Cipro is the brand name for ciprofloxacin, a medication that’s used to treat bacterial infections. It’s used for conditions like urinary tract infections, specific types of infectious diarrhea, bone and joint infections, respiratory tract infections, typhoid, and other forms of bacterial infection.

How Does Cipro Work?

Cipro works to stop a bacterial infection by blocking an enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This prevents the replication of bacterial DNA. So as your body combats the infection, the bacteria loses its capacity to self-repair and thus stops spreading.

Cipro Dosage and Treatment

Make sure to discuss the proper dosage with your doctor to fully understand how to use Cipro. Avoid missing dosages, taking more, or less than the required amount. Dosages change from condition to condition, depending on the ideal amount calculated by your doctor. Here is a rough guide on the kind of dosage you might expect. Bear in mind that these numbers are not set in stone and will likely vary depending on your doctor’s recommendations.

  • Oral dosage extended-release tablets
    • Acute uncomplicated pyelonephritis
      • Adults – 1000 mg / day
      • Children below 12 – dosages vary. Please consult your doctor.
    • Uncomplicated urinary tract infections
      • Adults – 500 mg / day for 3 days
      • Children below 12 – dosages vary. Please consult your doctor.
    • Complicated urinary tract infections
      • Adults – 1000 mg / day
      • Children below 12 – dosages vary. Please consult your doctor.
  • Other oral dosage forms, such as suspensions
    • Anthrax infection
      • Adult – 500 mg x 2 / day, every 12 hours for 2 months (60 days)
      • Children below 12 – Typically 15 mg per kilogram of body weight. Twice daily for 60 days, not exceeding 500 mg per day.
    • Gonorrhea
      • Adults – 250 mg
      • Children below 12 – doses vary. Please consult your doctor.
    • Infections
      • Adults – 250 to 750 mg x 2 / day, every 12 hours
      • Children below 12 – doses vary. Please consult your doctor.
    • Plague
      • Adults – 500 to 750 mg x 2 / day, taken every 12 hours for 2 weeks
      • Children below 12 – doses vary. Please consult your doctor.
    • UTI or serious kidney infections
      • Adults – 250 to 500 mg x 2 / day, taken every 12 hours for 7 to 14 days
      • Children below 12 – Typically 15 mg per kilogram of body weight. Twice daily for 60 days, not exceeding 750 mg per day.

If you miss a dosage of cipro, take the missed dose immediately UNLESS you only have 2-3 hours before your next dose. In this case, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosage schedule. Do not take double doses to make up for missed dosages as this may cause serious side effects and adverse reactions.

Doctors recommend taking Cipro tablets as a whole instead of crushing or slicing them since there may be a bitter taste. If you vomit the tablet and it’s still intact, take a new dosage to replace the lost dosage. If your body rejects the second intake, visit your doctor.

Effective use of Cipro can clear the body of infection and restore proper functioning. When you start a course of Cipro, you should feel relief within days.
